Types of Funds
Community Funds
The Umbrella Fund is held for general charitable purposes, and enables the Foundation to respond to a broad range of community needs. Income from this fund may support Field of Interest projects. The Community Fund offers the most flexibility for the donor's charitable giving. For these reasons, the Le Roi Community Foundation encourages donations to the Community Fund.
Designated Funds
The donor selects the charitable agency or agencies to benefit from the establishment of their fund.
Donor Advised Funds
The donor may participate in an advisory capacity in the yearly grant making process. Donor Advised Funds must have a minimum balance of $50,000.
Flow Through Funds
Monies given to the Foundation with the intent of granting the entire amount of capital to qualified donees within the same year or the following year of the Foundation's receipt of the monies.
Ways to Give
There are different ways to give to your local community through donations to the LeRoi Community Foundation. From named funds to occasional donations of any size, we would love to be your charity of choice.
LCF builds permanently endowed funds, and there are a variety of ways for donors to set up an endowed fund. We’d be happy to discuss your philanthropic goals with you and get the ball rolling to create your named fund.
Any of the funds below can be established in your name, or in the name of your family, your organization, or anyone you wish to honor. All grants distributed from your fund – today and in the future – are then awarded to charities in the name of your fund. It’s a great way to always be involved with, and remembered for, your community investment.
The minimum amount to establish a named fund with the LCF is $10,000. An named fund can be established with an initial donation of $10,000, or, if you prefer, you can spread that out over a three year period. You begin with an initial donation of $5,000 and contribute the remaining $5,000 over the next two years.
Five great giving options.
Choose the one that’s right for you.
Unrestricted Funds.
You can use your gift to meet ever-changing community needs – including future needs that often cannot be anticipated at the time your gift is made. We evaluate all aspects of community well-being – arts and culture, education, environment, health and social services and recreation. The flexibility of your unrestricted gift makes it possible to respond to the community’s most pressing needs, today and tomorrow.
Designated Funds.
You can direct your gift to a specific charity or issue area. Help provide ongoing funding for a senior centre, museum, your church, or virtually any nonprofit charitable organization. You identify the recipient you wish to benefit through your gift; our directors manage the annual distribution of funds.
Donor Advised Funds.
You can have ongoing involvement in the use of your gift. You work with our professional grant making staff, identifying ways to use dollars from your Donor Advised Fund to address the issues and needs you care about most. Your recommendations are submitted to our board for approval; we then distribute grant dollars. Donor Advised Funds must have a minimum balance of $50,000.
Agency Endowment Funds.
An attractive option for local charities that currently manage, or are interested in establishing their own endowment fund. An Agency Endowment Fund through your local community foundation makes it easy and efficient to create and manage a permanent endowment for your organization. You build the fund. We take care of the rest.
