Jody Pistak, President & Chair

Jody is a lifelong Rossland resident who is married and together with her husband raised their 3 sons in Rossland. Jody spent her career as an RN working in Mental Health and Substance Abuse, then moved on to Management as well as Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. She retired in 2019, and in addition to volunteering on the LeRoi Foundation, is also the Vice President of the Rossland Lion’s Club and a past member of the Rossland Legion Auxiliary. Jody enjoys gardening and preserving food for the winter, cooking, skiing, knitting, and most recently is trying to master the skill of riding an e-bike!

Juris Harlamovs, Vice President

Juris Harlamovs has lived in the community since 1987. He is now retired, but he worked as an extractive metallurgist for Teck for 30 years in their research facility. Born in Canada but raised and educated in the UK, Juris has had the opportunity to work in South Africa before returning to Canada. His career has afforded him a chance to visit many parts of the world. He is a member and past president of Waneta Sunshine Rotary; he was a member of the board and a chair for the Trail Association of Community Living. Juris has developed a passion for armchair philosophy, especially with respect to understanding how the universe ticks.

Marylynn Rakuson, Secretary

I was raised in Trail and it is important to give back to the community. I am married with 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren.

I am retired and have volunteered on many organizations, health care, disabled committees, Jones Daughters, Trail Health and Environment, LA to Royal Canadian Legion, and Trail United Church Food Bank.

Lina Horan, Director

A Trail native, of Italian heritage, Lina enjoys having the opportunity to meet new people, learn new things about different cultures, and boast about all our area has to offer. Lina has been the secretary for the SMS Italo Canadese for over ten years. She has helped with coaching Track & Field in the Greater Trail area; participated in many aspects of Trail Silver City days from Sidewalk Café to the Fun Run; was a member of the organizing committee for the Rick Hansen Anniversary Relay; was involved in all the BC Games held in this area, as well as officiated at many track meets.


Heather Brandvold, Director 

Heather is the Grants Committee Chair and is also involved with the Marketing and Nominating Committees. She is retired from her position as a Deputy District Registrar with Court Services in Rossland, where she dealt with community issues for 17 years, and has volunteered with various community organizations including United Way, Golden City Days, the Bear Smart Task Force and Visions for Small Schools among others. She was born and raised in the Trail/Rossland area and has a keen sense of the community needs, especially now that a second generation of Brandvold’s will be utilizing services and enjoying the many benefits of living in this area. When she’s not volunteering, Heather enjoys x-country skiing, hiking, adventures with her standard poodle Loki, biking, yoga, quigong, gardening, reading and relaxing with Doug, her partner of 38 years.


Debbie Wallace, Director

Debbie has been an active community member, working in the dental field for 37 years and retired ten. Involved with a son and two daughters and all the activities they were involved with from the arts to sports to education.

When not volunteering, she and her husband Glenn of 50 years, like to travel, ski, golf, hike , bike, read and grandparent.


Steve Hilts, Director

Steve has lived in a handful of BC communities but was raised in Trail, raised his own kids in Rossland with his wife, Sharon, and returned to Rossland for retirement a few years ago. His professional career was focused on environmental management and community relations in government, consulting and industry, including 20 years with Teck Resources in Trail and Vancouver. Steve's community services history has included committee and board membership, plus events organizing and officiating. Examples include: BC Winter Games, 2010 Winter Olympics, Red Mountain Racers, Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Trail Area Health and Environment Committee.

Sam Ross, Director

Sam lives in Rossland and has 3 children and one grandchild. Sam enjoys tennis, skiing and tinkering with anything digital. In his younger days Sam was a soccer referee, coach, scout leader and a volunteer for many community events.
